In yet another recognition of her enthusiasm for public service, Fellow Shannon Malone recently received the prestigious Kellogg Fellowship. The W.K. Kellogg Foundation describes the fellowship as an opportunity to work “within communities to improve outcomes for vulnerable children.” Shannon is working to foster the physical and mental health of communities. An advocate for women and the LGBT community, she is leading change in equal access to resources for health and education.

Shannon currently serves as a member of AmeriCorps VISTA, a program committed to fighting poverty. As Business Development Coordinator at BiGAUSTIN, a non-profit that provides services such as education, counseling, and flexible loans to underserved entrepreneurs, she serves her community by aiding growth in small businesses that otherwise lack the resources. Shannon worked closely under mentor and leader in public health, Dr. Sandra Hernández, at the San Francisco Foundation from 2011-2012.
